TriathlonCOACHINGSERVICES

Six ways to work together, for triathletes and runners at every level and for the coaches who train them. What they share is that your training is seen in the context of your everyday life and your long-term goals.

How to choose

WHICH SERVICE FITS YOU?

The services can be used on their own or combined. Many athletes start with a test or a single meeting and build from there. Here is what each one is for, and who it usually suits.

Online coaching: steady progress over time

You get a personal training plan in TrainingPeaks that is updated every week from what you actually did, how you responded and what is happening in your life. It suits you if you want someone to take responsibility for planning and following up your training, whether you are training for a sprint triathlon, a 70.3 or a marathon.

Testing: training zones you can trust

A lactate profile, a max heart rate test or a two-day power profile on the bike gives you numbers to train by instead of estimates. Tests are run in Holmestrand and suit both coached and self-coached athletes who want to know their thresholds and see whether the training works.

1-on-1 sessions: technique and execution

A session together in the pool, on the bike or running, with real-time feedback on technique, pacing and intensity. Useful when something feels inefficient, when you want to learn to hit the right intensity in hard sessions, or before a heat training block.

Guidance: one important decision

A 45-minute online meeting about a specific question: planning a race, reviewing one you have done, structuring the season, or preparing for heat or altitude. It suits athletes who plan their own training but want a second opinion from a coach.

Mentoring for coaches: a professional sparring partner

If you are a coach yourself, you can book a 60-minute online meeting or ask about a programme over several months. We work on planning, long-term development, training philosophy, testing and zones, and coaching young athletes.

How I work

THE PRINCIPLES BEHIND THE TRAINING

A few key sessions, protected

A typical week is built around two or three quality sessions, mostly around threshold, with easy volume around them. Easy sessions stay easy, so the hard ones can be done well.

Decisions based on data

Zones are set from testing and adjusted continuously from training data, such as power, pace, heart rate and perceived effort, so the plan follows your actual development.

You at the centre

Work, family, sleep and motivation weigh as much as physiology. A plan you can carry out in your everyday life beats a perfect plan on paper.

Consistency and health first

Steady training over months beats a few big weeks. Load is increased gradually, and recovery is adjusted to how your body responds rather than to a fixed schedule.
