The tests show where your thresholds are, so you train in the right zones. Retest later and you see in black and white whether the training works.
Testing Protocols
Lactate profile, max heart rate and performance analysis: the numbers you need to train right.

All three disciplines
Find your lactate threshold in each discipline, so the zones you train by match your body rather than an estimate.
Bike and run
A test of your maximum heart rate as a standalone test on the bike or run, or combined with a lactate profile for a complete picture.
2-day protocol on the bike
A thorough two-day test protocol on the bike that maps your complete power profile, with strengths and weaknesses, and gives a full picture of your capacity.
2 days of testing for a complete mapping
PACKAGE DEALS
Testing and 1-on-1 sessions in one package, with a lactate profile and max heart rate test before and after, so you can see in black and white what your training delivers.
Steady follow-up with a physical session every 2nd week.
Close follow-up with a physical session every week.
Prices apply to one discipline. Want both bike and run? We expand the testing part. Get in touch for a quote.
Track Progress
All your test data is available in the Session Presenter LAB, allowing you to track your progress over time and see how your training is paying off.

Questions and answers
A lactate profile is a step test where intensity increases gradually and a small blood sample is taken after each step. The curve shows where your thresholds are, and the full analysis turns them into training zones in power, pace and heart rate that you can train by.
The lactate profile can be done in swimming (8 x 400 m step test), cycling or running (8 x 6 minute step tests). The price is per discipline. The max heart rate test is done on the bike or running, and the two-day performance assessment is on the bike.
Tests are held at BASE Training Club in Holmestrand, Norway. You book the test and choose a time on the booking page, and you get the confirmation by email straight away.
Come rested, with no hard sessions in the last 24 hours. Eat a normal meal 2–3 hours before, arrive well hydrated and avoid caffeine in the last 3 hours. Bring a heart rate strap and your own equipment for the discipline you are testing.
For most athletes a new lactate profile 2–4 times a year is enough to follow the development and update the zones. In between, zones can be adjusted from training data, such as power or pace against heart rate and perceived effort.
A lactate profile costs NOK 1,500 per discipline, a max heart rate test NOK 800, and the two combined NOK 1,800. The two-day performance assessment on the bike costs NOK 3,000. Analysis and training zones are included.
